OUR MISSION — St. Faustina is a Community inspired by the Holy Spirit and called to reflect God’s Divine Mercy, to foster spiritual growth, and to attend the temporal and social needs of all.
Pastor’s Message
Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. (Matthew 5:17)
My dear parishioners, I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to you all who have contributed through prayer, hard work and financial support, to the building up of our own worship space. The success of this project is a tribute to your being church, already in place since the foundation of this parish, and as the Body of Christ manifested through the blessings of ministry in community.
We have fond memories of the past locations of this church, of the spiritual legacy and continuity of a vision inspired by St. Faustina’s diary on the Divine Mercy. We now live and share the blessings of living like Jesus Christ our Savior, and of being God’s mercy and compassion to the whole world.
During this move to our new beloved church home, there have been a countless number of people who have given a devout amount of time and treasure to this undertaking: indeed, too many to give a record of! My heartfelt thanks to the wrapping and packing team; those who coordinated the handing out of flyers, communications, and publications; the many who physically and tirelessly moved furniture, boxes, and equipment; those who so skillfully and expertly built Sanctuary furniture and placed Sanctuary and church furnishings on the walls; the Pastoral Council and Finance Committee for their unswerving guidance and evaluations at every step; our church office staff who helped administrate each stage of the move and new building; the cleaning and recleaning, again and again, of the new church and old; the vast number who selflessly gave and continue to financially give to our Capital Campaign, Building Fund, and Offertory; … The list of volunteers to give volumes of thanks can just go on and on and on…!
And of course, let’s not forget the multitudes of prayer coverage and prayer support from our parishioners and friends at every measure of the way! These are the things, and so much more that I am ever so thankful for! I earnestly thank each and everyone who has shared in this journey and in every capacity!
After Bishop John Noonan’s blessing and well wishes, we are finally on our own holy ground, the base and foundation of what the parish of St. Faustina is and is yet to become! We are full of hope and with ready, engaged hearts, we live and profess our faith in Christ Jesus. Jesus, we trust in You! St. Faustina, pray for us!
Blessed are they whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the LORD. Blessed are they who observe his decrees, who seek him with all their heart. (Ps. 119:1-2)
Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: “No penséis que he venido a abolir la ley o los profetas. No he venido para abolir, sino para cumplir.
(Mateo 5:17)

O good and gracious God, we praise and thank you for the countless blessings you have bestowed upon us since the foundation of this great parish. We stand in gratitude for a beautiful building we can call our own, where worship celebrations and the administration of sacraments and ministries duly take place.
As we transition into our own place of worship, may we remain worthy stewards and willing instruments of your mercy, healing, and peace to the world around us. May visitors, pilgrims and friends feel the welcome and warmth of a growing faith community here at Lake County.
May our parishioners, benefactors and associates be blest with generous and loving hearts to collaborate and work together in harmony for the growth and increase of this faith community. Jesus, I trust in you, Jesus, I trust in you, Jesus I trust in you. St. Faustina, apostle of mercy and our patroness, pray for us!

THE SIGN OF THE CROSS is who we are as followers of Christ. Sometimes when something is repeated over and over and over again, it loses its meaning. Such could be the case with the Sign of the Cross. For us as Catholic Christians, it should be a reverent prayer, one to be reflected upon as we make the sign and say the most holy words: “In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen”… (which means, “I Believe.”)
To see a couple of articles on what Pope Francis says about the “Sign of the Cross”, please go to: Pope on Sign of the Cross – Aleteia

Watching the news and reading the headlines, we may feel helpless seeing the heartbreaking lack of respect for human life. How do we respond when our efforts seem small in the face of the culture of death?

St. Catherine de’ Ricci
By Marylu Mariniello
Alessandra Lucrezia Romola de’ Ricci was born in Florence, Italy on April 23, 1522 to a noble family. Her mother died soon afterward. From childhood she displayed a great love of prayer. At the age of six, her father sent her to the convent of Monticelli in Florence, where her Aunt Louisa de’ Ricci was the Abbess.
After a brief return home at the age of fourteen, Alessandra entered the convent of the Dominican nuns at Prato in Tuscany, a cloistered community of religious sisters of the Third Order of St. Dominic. There she took the name Catherine for her favorite saint, St. Catherine of Siena. As a novitiate, she would experience ecstasies during her daily routines, causing her to appear asleep during community prayer services or dropping plates and food. This occurred so much that the other nuns began to question her competence and sanity. Eventually they came to understand the spiritual basis for her behavior as a mystic.
Her visions show her holding baby Jesus dressed in swaddling clothes and also how she was mystically united with the adult Jesus. It is claimed that Catherine’s meditation on the Passion of Christ was so deep that she spontaneously bled, as if she were scourged. She also bore the Stigmata and during times of deep prayer, a coral ring appeared on her finger, representing her marriage to Christ.
During her early years at the convent, Catherine suffered from a mysterious illness which lasted for two years. Then she was chosen as Mistress of Novices at a young age, soon becoming the Subprioress. When she was thirty years of age, she became the Perpetual Prioress.
Her reputation of sanctity led her to meet many illustrious people, including those who later became popes, Marcello Cerveni – Pope Marcellus II, Ippolito Aldobrandini – Pope Clement VIII and Alessandro Ottaviano de’ Medici – Pope Leo XI. As an expert on religion, management and administration, many sought her advice. She gave counsel both in person and through letters.
It was noted that Catherine wore an iron chain around her neck and engaged in extreme fasting of bread and water, two or three days a week. Sometimes she didn’t eat at all. She also did other forms of penance and sacrifice, offering everything for the souls in Purgatory.
Catherine is famous for the “Ecstasy of the Passion” which she experienced every Thursday at noon and lasted until on Fridays at 4:00 PM. This occurred for twelve years. After a long illness Catherine passed away on February 2, 1590. She is buried under the altar of the Minor Basilica of Santi Vicenzo e Caterina de’ Ricci in Prato, Italy which is next to her convent.
One of the miracles which was documented for her canonization was her appearance to Philip Neri, who was located hundreds of miles away in Rome, while she was at the convent before she died. Philip Neri confirmed the event. He too became a saint.
Catherine was beautified on November 3, 1732 by Pope Clement XII and canonized by Pope Benedict XIV on June 29, 1746.
Her feast day is February 13.
